Annual Radar Detector Shoot-Out
June 11th - 14th 2004

As a retired police officer and as a certified traffic radar instructor, Radar Roy was again invited to participate in the Speed Measurement Laboratories "Annual Detector Tests 2004" in El Paso Texas on June 11th through 14th.

Major radar and laser detector counter measure manufacturers, radar and laser gun manufacturers, and members of the El Paso Police Department, the El Paso Independent School District Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety all met during this three day event. Evaluated were the very latest item for both police traffic enforcement and the civilian counter measures devices.
During the testing process, only certified law enforcement officers operated the detection equipment and also acted as reviewers of all the counter measure devices.

The following results were recorded during the testing of detectors on June 11th - 13th 2004. On Sunday, June 13th SML tested samples of the same radar detectors from Best Buy and Circuit City along with other Internet retailers. Additional testing was also done on June 14th to confirm these results.
