Immediacy of Response
Radar Detector Testing
Radar guns transmit at the speed of light, or 186.282.4 miles per second. To understand this staggering speed, blink your eyes and in the second it took you to blink, you would have traveled from Los Angeles to New York sixty-two times!

You cannot outrun radar!
Radar guns transmit the moment the trigger is pulled. The Immediacy of Response is a new evaluation category for SML and a measure of the radar detector's scanning rate and its sensitivity.
The test vehicle with the detectors, was 1/2 mile from the radar gun. Used was a Kustom Talon transmitting at 35.5 Ghz.
The test vehicle had the microphone next to the detector "keyed open". The officer operating the radar gun had a stop watch in his hand. The officer activated both the radar gun and the stop watch at the same time. When the officer heard the detector activate, he stopped the stop watch.
Each detector was tested five times and averaged. Immediacy of Response time was recorded in seconds, tenths, and hundredths. Included in this test, was a private label detector no longer sold at Radio Shack tested for comparative purposes.
