Stealth R6 - Motorcycle
|
| . | Waterproof: The main portion of the radar detector is waterproof | |
| . | Motorcycle Mounting System: The unit comes with several different types of mounting systems that will allow you to install it onto most motorcycles. | |
| . | Optional Heads Up Display An optional Heads Up Display that mounts inside of your helmet, alerts you when your radar detector is activated. | |
| . | Temperature and Voltage Display: The detector display also displays the outside temperature and the voltage of your motorcycle. |

The radar/laser antenna was mounted under the faring of the R6 motorcycle. This antenna can also be concealed inside or behind the faring, and then allowing you to connect a second smaller "laser antenna" on the outside.
The rounded display module was installed on the R6 using the supplied mounting hardware that came with the detector.
The optional Heads Up Display was then installed onto a full face helmet. (This additional accessory is NOT waterproof)
Radar Roy and his "crew" of motorcycle enthusiasts had an opportunity to put the Cruisader through its paces.
Although the Cruisader was not "officially tested" at the 2005 Radar Detector Shoot Out, we had found that it had adequate range and sensitivity equaling that of other concealed units in its class.
The Blue LED display on the main unit was easy for our riders to see when operating the bike, and comments were made when we seen the 100 degree plus outside temperature displayed.
The biggest drawback that our sports bike riders saw with this unit was that the HUD was designed to mount inside the helmet rather then outside the helmet. Our sport bike reviewers did not feel comfortable putting the unit inside their helmets for fear of defeating the padding of their helmets. A solution to this would be that Whistler make a longer cable from the receiver to the LED light, allowing the unit to be mounted on the outside.
Upon Radar Roy's return to Arizona, he done a more comprehensive test of the Cruisader, with it mounted on his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The rounded display head was very easy to mount to the tubular handlebars, using the supplied mounting system from Whistler.
The volume of the audible alert was barley loud enough to be heard over Roy's "Screamin Eagle" after market exhaust. (This would be the same with any other radar detector mounted on this motorcycle).
Roy's "half helmet" has a sun visor, and he found that by mounting display module there, he didn't have to put the HUD inside his helmet.
The unit had approximately a one mile shorter range on Ka band when compared to the Beltronics RX65 on a four mile stretch of flat desert roadway.
The big plus with this system is price! When compared to the higher end Escort 8500 X50 accessorized in a similar manner for a motorcycle, you would be spending in the neighborhood of $500.00. The entire Cruisader system including the heads up display, is $379.00
