Instant On
Radar Detector Testing
Instant on is perhaps one of the most important tests SML performed at the 2006 Radar Detector Shoot-Out.
Your best defense against an instant on radar gun, is getting enough advanced warning when it is being used on vehicles that are ahead of you. For more tips on how to avoid the instant on radar ambush, click here

Cones were placed on the test course at the following distances: 2 miles, and 1.5 miles. Test vehicles containing the detectors were in the stationary position.
Officers in the base van transmitted an instant on signal on each of the three radar bands, for approximately 2 seconds.
During the 2 mile test, there were three tests. Y indicates that the detector alerted, and N means that it didn't.

* The Cheetah was a remote mounted European model radar detector. It did not have X band and it was tuned for Ka Narrow Band.
