All Band Radar Detection Testing
Without question, the MOST important feature of any radar detector, is to properly alert to the presence of a police radar gun.
Therefore one of this years SML tests was a "All Band Radar Detection Test" with cones placed at the 1000 foot mark.

One vehicle at a time parked at the 1000' cone and the radar detector that was being tested was turned on, while other radar detectors in the test, were turned off, to avoid interference.
The 1000' mark was chosen as this is the distance most police officers use for proper visual tracking history as required by the National Highway and Traffic Safety Association.
Each Table represents the radar frequency tested.
C Det represents the number of alerts from 3 attempts that the detector alerted to on constant on radar. (3/3 represents 3 alerts on 3 attempts)
C Disp represents the band displayed
I Det represents the number of alerts from 3 attempts on instant on radar.
I Disp indicates the band that the radar detector alerted to
