Each week, Radar Roy is contacted by someone who purchased an Escort/Beltronics radar detector, or a Blinder laser jammer from an unauthorized dealer and found out that they do not have a manufactures warranty or a counterfeit product.
Escort, Beltronics, Blinder and many other companies have a disclaimer in their manual that states "If your purchase is from an unauthorized dealer or Internet auction site including Ebay, U-bid or other unauthorized dealer" your product will be excluded from warranty!

Remanufactured Products
Escort and Beltronics do not sell their products to unauthorized dealers. However, unauthorized dealers have been able to purchase remanufactured units that have been sold in Mexico or overseas.
These remanufactured units are then imported back into the U.S.A. and sold as new, far below the wholesale price paid by authorized dealers.
These remanufactured units DO NOT have a factory warranty and if they do fail, you will have to pay to have the unit repaired.
Some of these unauthorized dealers will offer you their own warranty or warranty from companies such as "Square Trade". These persons and or companies CANNOT do factory service, nor can they update your products with new firmware/software, when they become available.
Counterfeit Products
There have been numerous situations where companies have been identified selling counterfeit radar detectors and/or jammers.
The latest counterfeit product that is currently being sold by unauthorized dealers is the Blinder laser jammer.
This "fake Blinder" was tested at the 2006 Speed Measurement Laboratories test and it failed in almost every laser jamming test.
Protect Yourself
There are many documented situations where consumers have been defrauded by being sold remanufactured or counterfeit radar detectors/jammers on the Radar Detector message forum.
Chances are, if you are purchasing the product for less money then an authorized dealer can purchase it for you are not getting what is advertised.
Before you spend your money for that "good deal" check out the seller. Are they an authorized reseller, do they offer a factory warranty, how can you contact them after the sale.
