Description

The Helmet Assisted Radar Detection H.A.R.D. is a wireless system invented by LEGAL SPEEDING for motorcyclists needing to know when their radar detector is alerting them of a radar threat. The H.A.R.D. system provides an immediate visual alert: a flashing LED light inside the helmet illuminated within your field of vision allowing immediate recognition of a radar threat.

The H.A.R.D. system is made up of two components: a battery operated transmitter and receiver. The transmitter has a six-inch power cord with a male RJ11 jack on the end. This cord plugs into the female RJ11 power jack located on the radar detector. These male and female RJ11 jacks look like those used on telephone systems. The H.A.R.D. System transmitter has a female RJ11 jack that the detector power cord plugs into. A green light on the transmitter indicates when the transmitter is sending a signal to the receiver. Total installation time for the transmitter is less than 10 seconds as it simply plugs ‘in-line’ with the existing detector wiring.

Just like a cell phone, the receiver has an on / off switch to maximize battery life. A green painted dot by the switch indicates if the receiver is in the on or off position. You can ride for 120 hours, which can be as much as 4,000 miles, between battery changes. The receiver has a long cord with the red LED warning light located at the end of the cord. This allows the small red LED warning light to be placed any where inside your peripheral vision. We refer to the red LED warning light as the ‘business end of the receiver.’ For maximum weather protection, we always recommend placing the receiver unit inside the helmet.

LEGAL SPEEDING invented the H.A.R.D. System allowing the motorcyclist to ride and enjoy the open road. The road is in front of you representing a black ribbon wrapping around curves and cutting through scenery. Launch your bike from the intersection and enjoy a worry free ride. Go Fast, Get H.A.R.D.

The primary benefits of the H.A.R.D. system are:

1. No Wires between the Rider and the Motorcycle - H.A.R.D. utilizes wireless transmission for critical data: the radar detector warning alert. This eliminates the need to have a clumsy earpiece and avoids tangled wires.

2. No Modifications to Helmet or Radar Detector - The H.A.R.D. transmitter simply plugs into your radar detector and the receiver is easily placed inside your cheek pad or can be mounted on the outside of your helmet. This allows for quick and easy installation with no tools needed for installation.

3. Clean and Simple Design - The H.A.R.D. System is nearly invisible to others. The transmitter and receiver are small in size avoiding the risk of being seen by the people giving you tickets (no need to give them another reason for not letting you out of a ticket).

4. Same Benefits as Sophisticated Military Heads Up Display - Heads Up Displays allow pilots to keep their eyes on their target. H.A.R.D. allows you to keep your eyes on the road without having to look down and try to see the radar detector alerting you of a radar threat. H.A.R.D. also alerts you wherever your eyes are looking. Whether in a curve or looking at the scenery, you will immediately know when your radar detector is providing an alert.

5. Designed for Motorcycling Conditions - H.A.R.D. provides a visual alert overcoming road noise, music players and intercom systems.

6. One Radar Detector for all Vehicles – H.A.R.D. is an accessory for existing radar detectors. No need to buy a separate radar detector for your bike. If you are already using a Beltronics or Escort radar detector, simply take the detector from your other vehicle and use it on your bike.

7. Compatible with Leading Radar Detectors - The H.A.R.D. system is compatible with the following detectors (when using an approved factory power cord): Beltronics Sti Driver, RX65, RX55, and V995; Escort 9500ix, 9500i, Escort 8500 X50, 8500, 7500S, 7500, 6800, and the Solo S2 (Escort Direct Wire Cord option required)

8. Stand-alone System - Since the system is self-contained, you don’t have to worry about changing your current way of riding. This means no need to re-wire your bike or change your sound systems.

I use it in a full face helmet. It's easy to install, and it seems rigid enough inside the helmet. I put some velcro on the lower part of my helmet area of view to fix it in position. It will eliminate any possible damage. I'm not sure about the battery pack if it gets wet. It doesn't seem too waterproof, but I have yet to test it. You have to remember to switch in on and off for it to work and to save on batteries.

This is my second HARD system, my previous one was ruined because of rain.
This product is very good an all aspects except it needs to be made water resistant.
I use it on my motorcycle, and both the helmet receiver, and the sender unit were ruined one rainy day, even though the sender unit was tucked inside the front fairing (Hayabusa)

I will definatly do something drastic to my new unit to make it water resistant.

Also,, a word of advice, if another rider is using the HARD system, it will interfere with your system and vice versa... both units will blink when they get into range of each other. (2-5 meters)

Comments about Legal Speeding H.A.R.D. System:

I use the unit in my helmet when riding my sport bike.

The battery box broke first time out. It is flimsy and certainly not waterproof.
I have power to the box but no signal to the LED in my helmet.

I would recommend it with reservations. The concept is good but build quality is cheap.

I have been saved many times with my setup, I have several helmets that this unit easily swaps to, I have two bikes I run this on, it's great, good battery life, can't miss the alert, kind of looks fragile but, no trouble for 4 years with mine...
