This is the best radar detector i have owned so far. I have had cobras, a bel 995, bel rx65, escort 8500X50 and a escort 9500IX, so far this is my favorite. It is amazingly fast, and the GPS features are awesome. I have it paired with my escort ZR4 shifter and they work great together. Overall i think it is the best bang for the buck, and one of, if not the best detector on the market right now.

I purchased this radar detector to replace my Bel RX65 because I thought it would be great to have for the GPS filtering and red light camera detection. I live in downtown Chicago and my commute is around 55 miles round trip. For me the Bel GX65 is just not enough of an improvement over my current RX65 to justify the expense. It would take me years to manually filter out all of the false alarms due to the variaty of routes that I take to and from work. This radar detector would be amazing for someone who lives in a suburban, rural, or small to medium sized urban area. The GX65 has an excellent database of red light camera's and potential speed traps, but I just cannot recommend this detector for people living in a downtown area. In all fairness there are likely no radar detectors which would excel in this environment.

Comments about Beltronics GX65 Radar Detector:
I commute 120 miles per day between Dover, DE and Annapolis, MD and have been using the GX65 for over two years now. It's better than any other detector I've owned. It has saved me from getting stopped more times than I can count. Saving me well beyond the amount I paid for it through tickets I missed getting. I've had cars stopped in from of me, behind me, and to the side. It's ability to detect around corners, over dips, and at long range, give you the right amount of time you need to get your foot off the accelerator, slow down, and change lanes if you have to. Through it's daily use, I've been able to pattern the different types of radar law enforcement uses and where and when they use them. Both DE and MD troopers and local patrol primarily use Ka band, while Sheriffs Deputies are using K band. On clear days with good atmospheric conditions they'll break out the LIDAR. So theoretically, if one were to team this detector up with a good Laser jammer such as the M27 (or M47 for trucks), you could maximize your protection against the revenue collection schemes these states put in place and be able to enjoy driving at a comfortable speed, avoiding the harassment you'd otherwise be exposed to.

Comments about Beltronics GX65 Radar Detector:
This is the best radar detector I have ever owned. I don't agree with the people who have so many problems with city driving. This detector has so many options to set for all of the false signals. If they spent more time reading how to do this it will help them eliminate the signals. This also has the best data base that can be updated weekly and that helps with all of the new traffic cameras, especially in Maryland.

Comments about Beltronics GX65 Radar Detector:
No random warnings, if it gives a warning then there is a signal. If the signal is not from law enforcement (i.e. security system) then tapping the mute button 3X tells it to not warn you about that signal in the future.
Simply the most pleasant detector that I have ever used.
