I have previously owned two Escort Passport 8500 X50 radar detectors and this one is so far above those modles, it is truly much better than any detector I've ever tried. The fact that I can ignore all the stores and other false alarms and really focus on only real alerts is a great relief.
The GPS connects super quick!
I have a loud convertible and this is much louder than the Passport 8500s. It has auto-dimming of the read-out, it only alerts when you are moving above a certain speed. All these items are fantastic!
This also seems to have much better filtering as it does not false alert on all the stores along my route like the 8500 x50 black did. If you drive in any urban / suburban area you must have the GPS enabled model! Plus it was only $100 more than the X50 Black...well worth it!

The box that it came in from Beltronics was put into a larger cardboard box with no packing material whatsoever. Putting a small box into a larger box with nothing to fill the void and cushion impact is worse than if they would have shipped it in it's original box. Very unimpressed! A $400 radar detector should be packed with care. I'm starting to get mad thinking about it so I will stop but hey hay needle; pull your heads out of your you know whats and use some packing peanuts!
