Many of the low end radar detector manufactures have added all kinds of gizmos to make a cheap radar detector more appealing.

First ask yourself, are you willing to give up performance just to know what direction you're going?

The reason you need to ask this is because NONE of of the higher end radar detectors have compasses. If you are unwilling to give up performance, then consider getting an external compass or even a GPS.

Well if you still must have a compass built in with your radar detector, then consider these models:
