Cordless Radar Detectors

First off for the record, Radar Roy does not recommend cordless detectors unless you ABSOLUTLY have no other option, as cordless units have 40 to 50 percent range, than the corded models.

However, Roy still gets a lot of customers who want to free themselves of the dangling cords.

An option to consider before buying a cordless radar detector is that all the corded radar detectors can be hard wired into your car's electrical system and the wire can be hidden from view.

Ok, Radar Roy hasn't talked you out of it, well then here is what he considers the best cordless radar detectors available, the Escort SOLO 2, the Whistler 7800, the PNI Silver Bullet RX7500 and RX7600, the PNI Traveller II and the Beltronics 946 Express.

#1 - Escort SOLO 2
The Escort Solo 2 is a battery operated radar detector and is rated as the best cordless radar detector ever made!

Autoweek Magazine rated it as their top pick of Radar Detectors in 2005.

The Solo 2 does have the best range and sensitivity of any of the other cordless radar detectors and the filtering is superior.

#2 - Whistler 1788
The Whistler 1788 is the first cordless radar detector to use four batteries. This allows the detector to remain on, without draining the batteries.

Also with the four batteries, it is the first cordless radar detector that can detect POP radar.

#3 - PNI Traveller II
The PNI Traveller II has voice alerts in both English or Spanish. Has an earphone jack and you can program the unit to switch off X band (reduces false alerts).

#4 - PNI Cordless Traveller
The RX7600 is a very compact cordless radar detector that also includes a compass.
