California Radar Detector and Laser Jammer Laws


The use of radar detectors are legal in the State of California in all passenger vehicles, however laser jammers
are illegal

Points of Interest

California’s POST radar police certification course is a 54-hour class with 24 classroom hours and 30 field training hours and after graduation the officer then can be certified in lidar enforcement in a second 8-hour class.

California state law also requires that police radar guns must be certified every three years by a certified and independent radar calibration facility.
