The Cobra XRS-9540 Radar/Laser Detector provides advanced warning of six radar and four laser signals. DigiView Data Display provides easy-to-read digital text display.


This radar and laser detector also features the Strobe Alert and Safety Alert functions - both Cobra exclusives. Strobe Alert works with tens of thousands of emergency vehicles currently equipped with traffic-light-controlling strobe emitters and provides advanced alert of the presence of these vehicles. Safety Alert receives similar warnings from emergency vehicles with Safety Alert transmitters.

It was the cheapest detector on the top ten list, [$]. It works well enough but seems to have that cheap, lightweight feel to it. While it does give a lot of low, powered false alarms, it still goes off when its the real thing. While there may be better units on the market, this one works well enough and reliably enough to be cost-effective. I think its a good detector for the price I paid for it.

Don't Buy

This device would never work for me. It turned on and that was it. It only alerted me in construction zones and I was pulled over within a week of having this device.

    I started using mine today. I was alerted of cops using the spectre radar at a top of a hill and the cops were sitting at the bottom of the hill(its a big hill). I wasnt speeding at the time but if i was i would have had plenty of time to slow down. Alerts of cops very early. I have only received two false warnings. the only problem i had was that a state trooper was right in front of me at a light. when we went it did not pick him up probably because he didnt have his radar gun on but well worth the money i spent on it. Save money on speeding tickets and get to your destination faster.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

          Simply driving by too many cops without getting a signal. Maybe they aren't using radar and its laser usage, but 4/5 cops I pass I get no signal. Makes it pretty useless in my area.
