With the exception of the Stinger VIP all the radar detectors used in this test were NOT supplied by the manufacture and were all retail, off the shelf units.
Radar Detector Settings During Testing
Each detector used during this test was powered on prior to the test and we waited for the detector to complete its power on sequence.
On the Passport Max2, the Passport, and the STiR we also waited an additional 30 seconds for the detector to acquire a GPS signal.
During this portion of the test the radar detectors were set to highway, x-band off (with the exception of the segmented V1), laser activated, POP off.
The REDLiNE segmented was 2-5-8 turned on and RDR, TSR and X-band turned off.
During this test the radar operator transmitted a 2-second burst of Instant On Radar. The documented location was where the detector was able to first detect this instant on blast.
The remote installed radar detectors were mounted approximately 3.5 feet lower then the windshield mounted radar detectors. Because of this there will be a slight reduction in range.
The Stinger VIP antenna plate mounting location was behind the front license plate (low mount), approximately a foot lower then the STiR antenna and the hood mount location (high mount) was approximately the same height as the STiR antenna location.
