Radar Roy – Official Consultant to The Fireball Transcontinental Rally

3500 Miles, 125 Cars, A Few Tracks and 1 Amazing Time!

The concept crazy. The organizer crazy-er. So naturally Radar Roy agreed to become the “official” countermeasures provider for the Fireball Run Transcontinental Rally.

This coast to coast adventure’s organizer is J. A. Sanchez, a recovering ad agency exec, friend, and 3 time “Cannonballer.”

The amateur rally driver and automotive enthusiast was quite familiar with Roy's “magic” equipment, after all, it sliced his racing team across the country for the past 3 years in the Brock Yates Cannonball Run.

J wanted no less than the best radar and laser equipment available for guests of his all invitational run- and they will need it. The Fireball Run: Transcontinental Rally In the spirit of the "Great Race" and` late NASCAR legend "Fireball" Roberts.

The Fireball Run Transcontinental Rally is an “adventurtainment" car rally.

A mish-mosh of every type of vehicle available but not without its fare share of Rolls Royce’s, Bentley’s, and Lambo’s.

The “Clue meets Cannonball” event treks 125 vehicles on a 3,500 mile 9-day cross-country challenge from Orlando Florida to Los Angeles California.

Participants know only the beginning and end, with no idea what comes in-between.

This event attracts a most interesting (and diverse) cast of characters.

Even celebrity cars have been entered; such as the original General Lee, the Ambulance used in the Cannonball Run film, and K.I.T.T Participation from notable persons like William Shatner have all served to fuel the engines of this truly amazing race.

Teams only want the BEST!

Radar Roy's job for this nine day, 3500 mile cross country rally is to select the top radar and laser counter measure equipment and to make the cars all but invisible to the law enforcement speed devices along the trip. As the route of the race for the participants is secret, with the drivers only knowing the begriming of the race and the end.

Radar Detector of Choice – Beltronics STiR Plus

Therefore Radar Roy needed to select a radar detector that would be stealthy to the police and to have extreme range. As radar detectors are illegal in the state of Virginia and in Washington DC. Police in these areas use a device called a "radar detector detector" to sniff out radar detectors. Therefore Radar Roy’s detector of choice is the Beltronics STiR Plus which is stealth both to the eye and to all RDDs.

Laser Jammer of Choice – Blinder HP-905

Many states are making the transition to lidar speed enforcement equipment.

During one race Radar Roy himself participated in, his car was lasered a total of six times.

During their first encounter J. Stated " I saw him activate a laser gun and the Blinder lit up like a whore on payday and I was sure that they had caught us, however it was jam to the gun! "

Looking in their rear view mirror they never saw the trooper pull out from his perch.

As portions of the rally head through a few states where laser jammers are illegal, Roy selected the Blinder laser jamming system as it is less likely than other models to produce a jamming code and because of it’s compact size, easier to install.

And to provide the drivers with a better edge, the VEIL stealth coating is always applied to the cars headlamps and turn signals.

Several of the most notable cars Radar Roy has outfitted for this rally include Transcon Medi Vac, the Catalyst Racing Team, and the Batmobile
