Adaptiv Technologies TPX Pro Motorcycle Radar Detector Review

Adaptiv’s TPX 2.0 radar detector was tested during our 2015 Radar Detector and Laser Jammer Shootout and thanks to a complete electronics overhaul the TPX Pro is now ranked as a 3-star rated radar detector, providing you ample time to slow down in most police radar encounters. The Adaptiv TPX Pro adds GPS and redlight camera alerts.

TPX Motorcycle Radar DetectorWhat makes the Adaptiv TPX Pro unique is that it is the only radar detector designed with the motorcycle rider in mind.

Because of this the TPX Pro is waterproof, shock proof, has a LCD display angled upwards toward the rider, comes equipped with an external LED display and has large buttons enabling you to program your detector while riding, even with gloves on.

The TPX Pro motorcycle radar detector is easy to install. Just mount on top of your motorcycle radar detector mount, connect the direct wiring harness to your battery, zip tie the wiring harness to your handlebars and plug your detector in.

When parking your bike just unplug your detector from the harness and remove it for security reasons.

The Adaptiv TPX system also has additional external alert accessories, such as their wireless helmet alert system and their external Bluetooth transmitter.

Radar Detection Range

The TPX Pro s categorized as a 3 star radar detector, with 4 times the range of a police K and Ka radar gun.

Sensitivity and Filtering

The filtering characteristics of the TPX Pro is rated as good and is comparable to other radar detectors in the three star category such as the Escort 8500x50

Easy to See Display and External Visual LED Alert

Because the LCD display of the TPX Pro detector is on top of the detector and angled upwards toward the rider, its easy to see while riding.

However what makes the TPX Pro stand out is its external LED display, which you can mount to your windshield and their wireless alert accessories that you can purchase separately.

4 of 5 Adaptiv TPX Pro February 22, 2019
Reviewer: Daniel Maser from Macomb, MI United States
Ordered this unit for my motorcycle.  Will not likely be as good as my Escort, but it is a better unit for the bike.  Radarbusters were great.  They gave a 10% discount, which provided the lowest price I could find.  It did take about a week to receive the item after I ordered it, but that was due to Adaptiv taking over three days to ship the order after they had posted on UPS that it was being prepared for shipment.

5 of 5 Best detector for me. January 27, 2019
Reviewer: Patrick from KINGSTON, NY United States
Yes my V1 is perhaps a "better" radar detector, BUT no way is it better for use on a motorcycle. I need something waterproof, without bulky enclosures or the need to pull over and take it off in bad weather. I ride in all conditions. I also LOVE the remote LED warning light. I can mount it in a place that catches my peripheral vision easily.

My only issue with this detector is regarding how to mount it to my bike. Adaptiv makes several mounting options—they are the best since they are very well made and designed for this detector. Quick release plate etc. They need to make some arm length options. I found that I needed another 0.5" of reach in most cases... I made it work in the end.

Highly recommended. Price for value is excellent. WAY better than the competition.

4 of 5 Great, but a couple of features missing August 14, 2018

I bought the TPX3 because of the GPS capability only to find out that it has no way to store user points similar to the passport. Even so, I love the way it is purpose built for motorcycle. Sensitivity is adequate for my purposes.
